Supporting Education in Malawi
As a UNESCO school, we are very happy to celebrate the International Day of Education with the launch of our Readathon in support of the Chifundo Foundation, a charity dedicated to educating children in Malawi. We are particularly proud and honoured to be supporting the Chifundo Foundation as it was created by the family of our very own Mr Cogavin, teacher of English. We can’t wait to see how many books you will read!
STARS Progress
We were very pleased to receive our STARS silver certificate over the holiday. STARS is TfL’s accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries and has the objective to inspire young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling, and encouraging a better understanding of the benefits of public and shared transport.
STARS supports pupils’ wellbeing, helps to reduce congestion around the school and improves road safety and air quality.
We were awarded Silver Status in recognition of our efforts to promote sustainable and active travel to school over the past school year and are looking to progress on to Gold Status this year.
From hands up surveys, to pedestrian skills training, to charity work in the community and presentations to our local borough travel officers, pupils and staff have been taking part in a variety of activities to improve their awareness and understanding of how they can be more sustainable, active, responsible and safe.
We continue our efforts to achieve Gold Status!
