Alumni Story!
Sixtine, French International Track, Class of 2023

What did you do after graduating from our school?
I will be studying International Relations at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. It is a four-year program featuring courses about War and Peace, foreign policy, international organisations, terrorism…
What are your aspirations for the future?
Although I don’t know exactly what I want to do, I’d love to have a role in interstate exchanges (by being a diplomat, for example) or in the relations between states and international organisations (United Nations, WHO, etc.). I would like to do something in my own small way to work towards peace and security in the world.
What was your favourite subject when you were at school?
It is very hard to name only one subject. I really appreciated the speciality course HGGSP (Histoire-géographie, géopolitique, sciences-politiques) because it combined multiple subjects, offered cross-perspectives and required multidisciplinary knowledge. Similarly, the OIB History and Geography syllabus invites students and teachers to consider the same events from various points of view (American, French, British…). This approach to history is very enriching.
What is your favourite memory of your time at school?
Once again, it seems impossible to summarize my time at school to one single memory. From an academic point of view, my favourite memories were the various contests we did at school (Alkindi, Olympiades de mathématiques, concours Molière, Eloquentia…). From a more social perspective, I really appreciated the “food with friends” event. For those of us who weren’t there, Food with friends is a time for sharing, when students and teachers can bring a dish that is emblematic of their country. More than just an excellent meal, it’s an ode to the cultural richness of our school.
What did you most enjoy about your time at Ecole Jeannine Manuel?
I particularly liked the exceptional relationship that the teachers have with each other and with the students. This creates a warm, family atmosphere that encourages everyone to work and progress.
How has your time at school prepared you for the future?
Jeannine Manuel’s philosophy, which encourages students to think for themselves and develop a critical mind, is an excellent preparation for the future. Moreover, the balance between independent work and guidance from teachers means that students can progress at their own pace while striving for excellence.
