Teaching strategies
Each activity is taught for a cycle, which can be from 6 to 11 weeks long.
Student-centred but there are times when the teacher faces the class to give out information or to give feedback. Many different learning situations; individual, in twos, in small groups or as a class depending on the activity and the skills being looked at.
Differentiated situations, depending on the activity.
Assessment
Diagnostic: In situation at the beginning of an activity cycle;
Formative: During each lesson, whenever the students are ‘in situation’. This can also be done by the students, either self-assessment or peer assessment;
Summative: At the end of an activity cycle, where the students try and produce the skills they have been learning, practising, improving during the cycle, to show the level of skill they have attained.
Suggested Learning Strategies
Active participation as often as possible with thought as to what they are doing and how.
Observation of peers and self-assessment in terms of what they can do and what is being asked of them.
